“I know there is but One Mind, which is the Mind of God, in which all people live and move and have their being. I know there is a Divine Pattern for humanity and within this pattern there is infinite harmony and peace, cooperation, unity and mutual helpfulness.” ~Ernest Holmes, founder of The Science of Mind.Cooperation, unity and mutual helpfulness truly defines the pathway by which humanity will experience harmony and peace. In the above photo this is seen easily for “The Twins”, for they are forever alike and the same. My husband and I cherish these characters as the ideal of our marriage. Perhaps over the years together we have merged to resemble one another in more ways than not. Honestly, I can tell you there are many differences. What keeps our marriage strong is the idea of cooperation, unity and mutual helpfulness.
The appearance of humanity in today’s world seems anything but this. The community of Palm Springs, California was shocked this weekend with the senseless shootings of three law enforcement officers responding to a distress call of domestic violence. Two of these officers paid the ultimate price of life for the safety and well-being of others. There is now way to explain or defend this act. It is beyond comprehension. The outpouring of community cooperation, unity and mutual helpfulness is a glimmer of hope for our community and the surrounding valley.
At the same time, thousands of visitors came to our valley for a larger than life musical concert. The nation is reeling through the ugliness of the most disturbing presidential campaign in my 68 years in this form of existence. The world is being torn apart by bombings and innocent killing of civilians across the globe through terror attacks and governments greedy for power, control and ego status. The planet is reacting to the environmental actions of humans, as it tries to adjust to the unprecedented human actions of careless concerns for nature.
There is no other time than now. The past is but a memory. An opportunity to do learn and to be renewed in a more intelligent and perfect unity. The future is but a hope that we do learn from our actions today. I believe our thoughts become our words and our words become our actions. There is never a case of, “just words.” Somewhere, sometime they must come to fruition. Let us choose our words with care, not from fear or hate. Speak from unity and cooperation.
Ernest Holmes writes in his Prayer for World Peace: “I know that, because the Divine Mind has created us all, we are bound together in one infinite and perfect unity. In bringing about World Peace, I know that all people and all nations will remain individual, but unified for the common purpose of promoting peace, happiness, harmony and prosperity.”
Our thoughts, our words and our actions are creating our experience. Choose wisely.
